Welcome to my website!
If you are a conductor, choir director, educator, singer, or just curious….. this is the place for you. My goal as an educator and choral director is to cultivate independent thinkers and leaders who will make our world a better place. Lofty dream, right?!?! The purpose of this site is to share the nuggets of wisdom I have learned that produce results.
What’s new?
If you’ve visited this site lately you probably noticed it was under renovation. (Thank you, Honey!) It took longer than expected, but I’m excited by the results! Not only is there new content, but hopefully it’s easier to navigate as well.
There are now separate sections for News and Reviews. The In Concert section features a timeline of events for the season. The On Air section contains some of my TV and radio work.
Choirs can accomplish much more with musically literate choristers than with singers who need to be taught notes. And since every culture has music, and music is often the voice of social movements, choirs are the perfect place to cultivate socially literate, empathetic human beings, who are capable of having difficult conversations and solving problems. I will be posting the tips and techniques I use in my choirs to develops these musical and social skills in Skills Not Songs.
I have had the privilege of traveling and visiting many wonderful programs, from the other side of the U.S. to the other side of the world. In the On Location section I will be sharing these experiences, and the countless things I learn from them. (For a personal view my travel, visit this site).
Thanks for visiting, and be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think!
