The Boston Children’s Chorus joined John Williams, the Boston Pops and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Chorus for an evening of Film Music at the beautiful summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. BCC traveled out early Friday morning to attend a rehearsal and prepared for the upcoming event.
Normally a single chorus would have been chosen to tackle such a task, but a group of 24 select singers from three different choruses embarked on this assignment of bringing the music from the film “Amastad” to the lush green hills of the Berkshires.

The evening performance was attended by an estimated 15,000 audience members and was filled with the music of Maestro Williams as well as other famous film scores. The first Half was concluded with selections from Williams work with director Steven Spielberg; “Call of the Champions” from the Winter Olympics, Music from Saving Private Ryan, and Amastad.
Williams seemed pleased with the performance as he was giddy when he hugged me on stage and chuckled while he said “they look so happy!”
